Lyrics
[Verse 1] Some stories are gentle, this ain’t that kind, Chariot of fire burning holes in the sky. Elijah rides heavenward, whirlwind flight, His mantle drops down in the dust and light. Elisha picks it up with torn-up clothes, New prophet shoes, same old road. Smacks that river with a simple prayer, Water peels back like it is scared. [Verse 2] He hits Jericho where the water is bad, Sick land, dead fields, everybody sad. He throws some salt in the poisoned spring, Says, “Thus saith the Lord,” and it turns to clean. Then up toward Bethel, sun in his eyes, Fresh grief, fresh calling, no disguise. Long road, long day, quiet in his head, Till the peace gets wrecked by what they said. [Verse 3] Here come the youths with no fear of God, Mouths full of memes, hearts full of fraud. They circle round, pack of cheap-shot kings, Treating sacred things like a joke that stings. Point at his scalp, think they own the street, Holiness walking where their mockers meet. They lift their voices, cruel and loud, Turn prophecy into a hype-man crowd: [Chorus] “Go up, thou bald head, go up!” they cry, “Like your old master, take a spin in the sky!” “Go up, thou bald head!” they shout again, Mocking the mantle and the God of men. Then out of the woods with a low, mean glare, Come two she bears like they own that air. You wanted a show, you wanted a dare, Heaven said “fine” and answered with bear. [Verse 4] Elisha turns slow, no scream, no run, Speaks the Lord’s name, the laughing is done. Forty and two find out real fast, Words have weight and consequences last. No cartoon claws, no Disney scene, Judgment is heavier than it looks on a screen. So laugh if you want at the prophet’s head, But some punchlines end with people dead. [Bridge] Read the fine print when you quote the Word, Not every story is safe for the church dessert. Some are a warning carved in bone, “Play with the holy and you walk home alone.” Use your mouth for truth and prayer, Or learn theology from a grizzly stare. [Final Chorus] “Go up, thou bald head, go up!” they cried, Mocking the prophet walking by their side. “Go up, thou bald head!” still hangs in the air, Echo and claw marks, both right there. You wanted a joke, you wanted a dare, Heaven said “enough” and answered with bear.

How this song was made
Tempo: 120–130 BPM, steady 4/4 “train beat” with a bouncy, story-song feel, • Band: Acoustic guitar, upright bass, banjo, fiddle, light snare with brushes, optional mandolin, Handclaps and foot stomps on choruses, No modern synths, • Vocal: Male lead, friendly twang, clear storytelling, Lean into the punchlines and “bald head / bear” moments with extra attitude, • Backing vocals: Small group or kids’ choir on choruses and call-and-response breakdown, • FX: Tasteful bear growls and crowd “gasp” before big lines, • Structure: Keep verses tight, choruses hooky, and make the bridge and breakdown super easy for kids to shout along
