Version challenge-rules-1.0 · Effective September 28, 2026
Entering is free. No purchase is needed to enter or win.
These rules apply to every JOYFL Challenge, run by GoForth Foundation, a nonprofit ("JOYFL," "we").
Each Challenge has its own page listing the prompt, dates, prize, who can enter, accepted entry types, how entries are judged, and a summary of the winner terms. Those details are part of these rules for that Challenge.
You must be 18 or older, meet the eligibility listed on the Challenge page, and have a JOYFL artist profile.
People who run or judge a Challenge, and their immediate families, can't enter it.
People judge every eligible entry privately, using the criteria on the Challenge page. There is no public voting and no automated judging. We may name finalists and backup winners. Decisions are final.
Entering doesn't transfer ownership of your song.
By entering, you let us store, review, and share your entry with our team and judges so we can run the Challenge. It becomes public only if you're named a finalist or winner, or if you publish it yourself. After the Challenge, we keep a private record of the entry and nothing more.
You can withdraw your entry at any time before judging begins.
Winning starts with a winner agreement. It covers production, credit, payment, and rights to the finished song. Nothing transfers and no prize is paid until you sign it and its terms are met. The Challenge page summarizes the winner terms before you enter.
If a winner can't be reached, turns out to be ineligible, or doesn't sign the agreement, we may choose a backup winner. Prizes can't be transferred, and winners are responsible for any taxes.
We use entry information to run the Challenge and contact you, as described in our Privacy Policy (/privacy).
You're bound by the version of these rules you accepted when you entered. If we change them after that, we'll tell you, and you may withdraw your entry.
We may pause or cancel a Challenge that can't be run fairly.
